The 11th Hour
Director: Rob Stewart
Sharkwater: Extinction is a 2018 Canadian documentary film directed by Rob Stewart. The film is a sequel to the 2006 documentary of the same name, which follows its creator Rob Stewart on a journey to expose the illegal activities of the large shark hunting industry and the massive political corruption behind it – a conspiracy that leads to the complete extinction of sharks from the face of the earth.
Although Stewart died in the course of working on the film, due to a diving accident, the film was completed by the Rob Stewart Foundation in collaboration with director Sturla Gunnarsson and editor Nick Hector.
Rotten Tomatoes gave the film an approval rating of 100%, based on 30 reviews. The site’s critical consensus reads: “Beautiful yet terrifying, Sharkwater: Extinction is an eye-opening condemnation of the illegal trade – but also a touching farewell from a talented director.”
